Impressed

Dan and my little ladies picked me up tonight, and the first thing that I noticed was that they were in their jams and their hair was still damp from a bath.

He tackled the bathtime alone with all three, and I was in awe. Toss the fact that my littlest lady right now HATES water (she is completely terrified of water these days) and bathtime is not the easiest of feats. Dan was always the one to do bathtime with Maddie and Faith while I would give Abrie her bath when she was a non-sitting infant. Ever since she could sit up well on her own though, the three of them have enjoyed their baths together and I'm always in charge. I think Dan was intimidated to do all three at the same time, and in a way I don't blame him.

But, not tonight. They had the cutest comb overs, and smelled so good. It made me smile.

'Orphan Emily'

My girls and their newfound love for the classic, "Annie" has been resonating today in what they played all afternoon before Abrie's nap. Abrie was the new orphan named "Emily" and Maddie and Faith were Grace and Annie. They made the Rose Petal cottage into a little house, and were pretending to clean up to make everything nice for the new girl-- aka, Abrie: Emily. It was really cute. Abrie has been in an extremely pleasant mood, so she thought everything they were doing was hilarious.

Summer reading program at the libraries is a hit again for my girlies. They all got tokens for the machine today, and Maddie and Abrie are also saving some of their 'Sand Dollars' for bigger prizes. Faith is impulsive like her Momma, and chose to not save her 'Sand Dollars' and instead get more tokens. Haha.

Little things

I am eavesdropping on my two big girls talking in the play room as they read stories together instead of what they are supposed to be doing, which is sleeping. Eavesdropping on two little girls and their innocent conversations= priceless. I love hearing their conversations. Maddie is telling Faith, "ohhhhhh my gosh, guess what Faith? I am getting married to Romeo next week." To which, Faith responds "ohhhh, Maddie. That's great. I am getting married to John Smith next week!"
Maddie: "well, in real life we're still waiting to get married. You have to remember that. We probably can't get married until we're 8 or 9." Faith: "ohhhh, yes. You're right, Maddie."

Baby girl is IN LOVE with the digital picture frame that Nene got me for my birthday last month. It holds 4,000 pictures and I've only remembered to upload about 100+ from my camera. I was fortunate enough to find a memory card from our trip to Disney that I hadn't erased, so I put those on there too. I'm hoping it is a sign that I will have another little Disney aficionado by the way she reacts when she sees pictures of all the Disney characters in the pictures. She LOVES them. Of course, she loves seeing herself, or one of the 4 of us too. She's always standing there looking at this frame, and has knocked it over more times than I can count because of how excited she gets by it.

Dogs and baths

We are pet sitters until next Sunday! 'Bruce-y Boy' (as he is referred to by my girlies) is a wonderful dog, and our three ladies are thoroughly enjoying having him here with them. They want to do EVERYTHING for him. It's quite cute.

On a totally different topic, bath time is a complete and utter nightmare these days. I remember in Louisiana when Maddie was between 15-18 months of age, we had a lot of problems whenever we had to pour water over her head. We even went out and got her some snazzy goggles, but, luckily, the stage passed quickly. She's always been in love with the water. Faith also went through a stage (at about 2 years of age) where bath time was anything but fun.

But, what we've got going on with Abrie these days totally takes the cake. I called Nene the other night during bath time so she could hear how primitive Abrie's screams are, and even Nene said she didn't have the heart to listen anymore. She couldn't believe how bad it truly was. I feel as though I am torturing my little girl. She is miserable, and starts screaming the second you put her in the tub. But, it gets 1,000,000x worse when it's time to do her hair and bathe her. I've tried everything I can think of, and am considering resorting to using sink baths until this 'phase' passes. I need suggestions!

HersheyPark Happy

Went to Hershey yesterday with our little ladies.

Schedules have seemed so crazy lately, and it was nice to be together for the whole day. Dan loves these types of days, and so he went without sleep until we got home at 6pm. He is crazy. But, I think it was well worth it for him in that he had a little buddy to ride a 'big(ger)' ride with-- he and Maddie rode the Coal Cracker together, and loved it.

Faith was sad that she didn't see the Hershey Kiss walking around. She's too funny. They saw all sorts of chocolate-y characters, but she was dead set on hugging the big Kiss yesterday. They were all able to ride a handful of rides together, and it was the most precious thing to see them all having fun. It's surreal to me to see them all on a ride together! Abrielle LOVED the few rides that she was allowed to go on next to her Maddie. It was adorable! There was one in particular (that Dan was so excited about, and the 4 of them rode.. some big ol' tractor trailer type trucks) that she loved, and was laughing so hard that I could hear her from behind the queue line.

Chaos on a rampage

My precious baby girl? The one we lovingly refer to around here as the Show? Oh, she's in there all right. Somewhere in there. But, for the time being, her teething pains have overtaken her little body. I have resigned myself to the fact that we might not see our darling little girl for however amount of time it takes for these nagging teeth to just get here. In the meantime, I am getting my 'refresher' crash course (Faith from 9 months to 2 years of age pretty much when I lovingly referred to her then as 'the thorn in my side!') in body throwing (tantrum style) and horrible moods. I love my girl-- teething bad moods, and all!

*****

My big girls have what they call their "bathroom club." They remind me of my two brothers when we were younger: they do everything and anything together. EVERYTHING. They call for each other to get to "the bathroom club!!!" when they have to go to the bathroom. The girl that is not answering nature's call is elected the 'entertainer.' They are a riot. Abrie is already having so much fun just following her two big sisters around, and who wouldn't? She's got 24/7 entertainment at her fingertips.

More anecdotes

This week has seemed quite stressful. I had to teach my first class last night-- a basic internet class in Spanish. Dan has been working like a crazy man lately. It's not much fun to get off from work, and have Dan go in early for work immediately after dropping us off at home.

Had a visit yesterday from sweet cousins. Girlies had an absolute blast, and little Chase is so much bigger. We went for a walk, and ended up getting soaked in a downpour. It was fun though, and Maddie and Faith keep laughing about their impromptu "shower."

Big girls are 'mildly' obsessed with 'The Incredibles' (*and, pretending to be "Super's") and Taylor Swift these days... in no particular order.

Abrie took SIX steps yesterday!!! It amazes me how much my voice cracks from going so high when my girlies do things like this; I am always so proud.

Maddie is doing great with her addition. I've been slacking in 'traditional' activities and workbooks that we usually do, and instead just learning through doing constantly. Maddie was wow-ing the neighbors the other night with her math skills. And, speaking of our neighbors, these girls call spending time outside with them in the evenings their "dates." They LOVE talking to the couple that lives next door to us. Maddie told them one night, "um.. excuse me. I have a question.. would you like to get together tomorrow morning for breakfast? Or, can we do this again for our date tomorrow night?" Hahaha.

We've been working on chalk drawings almost every day. I give them a 'theme' every day, and today was "summer/beach." They are quite creative in what they make, and I just love their drawings.

Teething torture

Oh, the joys of teething!

My poor little Dracula, Jr. is cutting two fangs on the top. This will make a grand total of 4 teeth at 13 months of age when the right fang finally finishes coming through. My girls have always been slow teethers. The teething process is torture for both her, and for us. In February she had a 3 week stint of NO sleep (and I literally mean NO sleep) due to the teething pain of the two bottom teeth, and these days she does sleep but it takes about an hour for her to get to bed. She is also quite the fuss bucket during the day, and she wakes up at the crack of dawn in the mornings... and in a horrible mood at that!

On the bright side, I took my ladies to a local dairy this morning that a friend told us about. It's only 10 minutes from our house, and awesome. I'd been looking for a place like this that was close for the longest time. They have a huge play area with a big, wooden pirate ship. Maddie and Faith of course LOVED this and were "settlers" John Smith and Thomas (yes, they were pretending to be boys for once and not princesses! wow.). And, they have about a dozen of those plastic Little Tikes type slides and cottages, so Abrielle had a blast as well. Not to mention, we walked around the part with the animals and the three of them just loved it. They had everything from the typical farm animals to monkeys, peacocks, and even a little kangaroo. And, it was all free, which makes it that much sweeter.

Early mornings

My early morning riser (miss Abrielle) helps us make the most of our mornings before I have to go in to work.

We went for an hour long walk this morning, and were back by 9:40am. I hardly ever had all three girlies ready for any outing before 10am before, and we were already BACK before 10am today. I was proud! Our walk took an hour because my big girls wanted to ride their trike and scooter on an already longer route. And, then we encountered the elementary school kids having their field day at the soccer fields by our house. This was fascinating to my three, so we sat and watched for a little while.

The heat was almost unbearable already by the time we got back to the house, so I got some juice boxes and a little snack and we decided to make a "fair" on the back driveway. My girls and their imaginations-- it's the coolest thing. I love the little things they come up with; a lot of times it reminds me of things that I used to love to imagine as well as a little girl, and it's deja vu. Abrie was as happy as a little clam with her array of bikes to sit on and push, and she loves to walk holding onto one of my hands. (She also took 2 unassisted steps today!!!-- 13 months old). Maddie and Faith were busy drawing different games, rides, and snack stands with their chalks. It was cute what they came up with on their own.

Needless to say, we stayed outside all morning right up until it was lunchtime and before I had to leave. It was really nice.

Dan brought my girls in to the library today to get their own library cards. I loved it. Faith signed her name in enormous letters across all of the printed information on the back of her application card. And, Maddie signed 'Madison Caroline' as neatly as she could, but couldn't squeeze it all onto her line.
